Ann Arbor Attractions - Nichols Arboretum
The Nichols Arboretum is located next to the University of Michigan's campus. It is a 123 acre facility designed and built in 1906 by OC Simonds. It houses both native Michigan plants including every type of tree that grows in Michigan and different species from around the country. It is a very popular attraction for local students who refer to it as "The Arb". It is so popular because it is a great place to kill time. You can go for a jog, you can throw a Frisbee or just have a picnic. The arboretum also has a number of annual traditional events. Those include the Poets Walk, the Garden Walk, Arbfest and the Peony Garden Party. If you are lucky enough to be in town during these events you must check them out. Contact the arboretum for dates of these events. If you can not make it to one of these events do not worry. There are regular events scheduled all of the times such as trail days and guided tours.
If you think you might want to visit the Nichols Arboretum you should first call the information line to get current hours of operation and find out about any special events that are happening.. The number is 734-647-8986. The physical address of the arboretum is 1610 Washington HTS in Michigan. Take the time to visit the Arb on your nest trip to Ann Arbor. You will not regret it.
